宮古島沖に墜落した自衛隊のヘリコプターをどのように引き上げるのでしょうか？
2023年4月6日15時46分、第8師団第8飛行隊所属のUH-60JA多用途ヘリコプターが消息を絶ちました。搭乗していた自衛隊員は、操縦士2名、整備員2名、偵察任務に当たる隊員6名の計１０名でした。その後、消息を絶った地点から、ヘリコプターが海に墜落したことが分かり、ヘリコプターの捜索が行われました。４月７日から１日２００名以上の陸上自衛隊員や海上自衛隊員が捜索に当たり、水中ドローンも投入されて、海中の探索が行われました。
探索が引き続き行われ、４月１５日の夜、掃海艦「えたじま」が水中を伝播する音波を用いて、水中・水底の物体に関する情報を得るソナーシステムで捜索中、伊良部島北側の海底（水深約100m）に機体らしきものを探知しました。UUV（水中ドローン）のカメラを通して、機体の主要部分とみられる物体を発見しました。機体らしきものは大きく破損し、その内部や付近には複数の人らしきものも発見されました。しかし、周辺が暗く詳細な確認はできませんでした。
４月１６日午後、潜水艦救難艦「ちはや」から潜水した飽和潜水員が伊良部島北側の水深106mの海底で事故機胴体部分および要救助者（搭乗員らしき）5名を発見しました。実に、墜落してから１０日後の発見でした。
墜落したヘリコプターは引き揚げられるのでしょうか？
以前、知床観光船「KAZU1」が事故で沈没した時、沈没船の水深は１０２ｍでした。今回の水没したヘリコプターと、水深はあまり変わりません。知床観光船「KAZU1」は、「日本サルベージ」の作業台船「海進」により引き揚げられました。その際、潜水士が船内の物が流出しないようロープで結ぶなどの作業を行いました。今回の事故の場合、要救助者を引き揚げた後、ヘリコプター本体の損傷具合から引き揚げを行うのか否かが決定されるでしょう。確かにヘリコプター本体の損傷具合は、事故原因解明へのヒントになるでしょう。しかし、本体よりブラックボックスやフライトレコーダーの方が事故原因解明に重要なデータです。これらが回収できれば、本体は引き揚げず、映像から損傷を検証する程度で良いのかもしれません。
もし、引き揚げるとしても民間のサルベージ会社が担当すると思われます。そのまま引き揚げることが難しいようであれば、機体の切断などを行い、分解して引き揚げるのかもしれません。
乗組員５名の冥福をお祈りいたします。
４月１７日、ヘリコプターの中に居た乗組員５名の内、４名が引き揚げられ、死亡が確認されました。残り１名ですが、生存は絶望的でしょう。乗組員が５名もヘリコプター本体に残っていたということは、墜落は突然の出来事だったのかもしれません。また、残りの行方不明５名の安否も心配されています。早く発見されることを願っています。また、亡くなった乗組員５名のご冥福をお祈りいたします。

The search continued, and on the night of April 15, the minesweeper "Etajima" used sound waves propagating through the water to search with a sonar system that obtains information about underwater and underwater objects. We detected something that looks like an airframe at a depth of about 100m. Through the UUV (underwater drone) camera, we discovered an object that seems to be the main part of the aircraft. The aircraft-like thing was severely damaged, and multiple people-like things were found inside and near it. However, the surroundings were dark and detailed confirmation was not possible.
On the afternoon of April 16, a saturation diver who dived from the submarine rescue ship "Chihaya" found the fuselage of the accident aircraft and 5 people who needed rescue (like crew members) on the seabed at a depth of 106m on the north side of Irabu Island. In fact, it was discovered 10 days after the crash.
Will a crashed helicopter be salvaged?
Previously, when the Shiretoko sightseeing boat "KAZU1" sank due to an accident, the depth of the sunken ship was 102m. The water depth is not much different from the submerged helicopter this time. The Shiretoko sightseeing boat "KAZU1" was salvaged by the work barge "Kaishin" of "Japan Salvage". At that time, the divers performed work such as tying ropes to prevent the items inside the ship from flowing out. In the case of this accident, it will be decided whether or not to salvage the rescued person after salvaging the rescued person based on the degree of damage to the helicopter itself. Certainly, the degree of damage to the helicopter body will be a hint to clarify the cause of the accident. However, black boxes and flight recorders are more important data for elucidating the cause of accidents than the main unit. If these can be recovered, it may be enough to verify the damage from the video without pulling up the main body.
Even if it were to be withdrawn, a private salvage company would be in charge. If it seems difficult to pull it up as it is, it may be possible to cut the aircraft, disassemble it and pull it up.

On April 17, 4 of the 5 crew members who were in the helicopter were withdrawn and confirmed dead. There is only one remaining, but survival will be hopeless.
