水族館は楽しい海の動物園
水族館は全国各地にあり、多くの魚やエビ・カニなどの甲殻類、貝類が展示されています。実際に行ってみると、魚の泳ぎや行動がとてもユニークで、大変癒されます。最近、行ってみたい水族館トップ２７という「ねとらぼ」の記事を見かけました。第一位は「沖縄美ら海水族館」、第二位は「八景島シーパラダイス」、第三位は「鴨川シーワールド」でした。全ての順位が知りたい方は、是非記事を読んでみて下さい。
紹介されていた２７の水族館の中で、私が行ったことがある水族館は、第１位の「沖縄美ら海水族館」、第２位の「八景島シーパラダイス」、第４位の「鳥羽水族館」、第１３位の「新江ノ島水族館」、第１６位の「アクアワールド茨城県大洗水族館」でした。ただ、鳥羽水族館と八景島シーパラダイスは、出来てからあまり時間が経っていない時期に行ったため、現在の水族館とは印象が違うかもしれません。
沖縄美ら海水族館は、大きなジンベイザメが居ることで有名ですが、他にも深海の魚などが展示されていて、大変楽しかったです。ただ、沖縄県自体が綺麗な海に囲まれているので、熱帯魚などの展示を見ても、感動は今一つでした。沖縄の海は大変綺麗で、ちょっと海岸に行って海を覗いてみると、青や黄色のスズメダイなどが泳いでいる姿を見かけることができます。第２位の八景島シーパラダイスは、遊園地と併設されているので、入場チケットを購入するときは、気を付けましょう。イルカのパフォーマンスや触れ合いなど、イルカ関係が充実しています。私が行った時は、いくつかの水槽はメンテナンス中で、あまり生物が居ませんでした。現在はかなり魚類が充実しているようです。新江ノ島水族館が第１３位とは、少々驚きました。私は新江ノ島水族館には、お客として行ったのではなく、お手伝いとして行きました。伊豆半島の戸田で行われている地引網漁船に乗船し、食用にならない魚介類を集めて新江ノ島水族館まで運びました。朝２時から出港して、昼の１０時くらいに帰港しました。当時、海況が悪くなってきたので、早めの帰港でした。地引網漁船は網を降ろして海上を動き回るので、結構船酔いがキツかったことを覚えています。水族館関係者の方も辛そうで、一緒に魚を集めている時に「結構辛いですね。」と話していました。新江ノ島水族館は、相模湾の魚からオホーツク海のクリオネまで多種多様な海の生物が展示されています。とても楽しめる水族館なので、是非行ってみて下さい。片瀬江ノ島駅から歩いて５分位です。
水族館は少々入場料が高いですが、仕方ないと思います。
水族館の入場料は大人２０００円―３０００円前後です。上野動物園の入場料が大人６００円なので、意外に高く感じます。しかし、水槽は維持費が高く、水温や水質の維持に多くの電力を使います。そのため、入場料は高くなってしまいます。それでも、水族館は様々な海の生き物に出会うことができる貴重な場所です。泳いでいる魚を見るときっと癒されます。寒い日々が続いているので、野外の動物園ではなく、屋内の水族館でゆっくり魚を鑑賞する、というのはいかがでしょうか？

Aquariums are fun sea zoos
Aquariums are found all over the country, and many fish, crustaceans such as shrimp and crabs, and shellfish are on display. When you actually go to an aquarium, the way the fish swim and behave is very unique and very soothing. Recently, I came across an article on NetLab called the top 27 aquariums you want to visit. First place was Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, second place was Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, and third place was Kamogawa Sea World. If you want to know the full ranking, please read the article.
Of the 27 aquariums introduced, the ones I have been to are first place Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, second place Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, fourth place Toba Aquarium, thirteenth place Enoshima Aquarium, and sixteenth place Aqua World Ibaraki Oarai Aquarium. However, I visited Toba Aquarium and Hakkeijima Sea Paradise not long after they were built, so my impression of them may be different from the current aquariums.
Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is famous for its large whale sharks, but it also has other deep-sea fish on display, which was very fun. However, Okinawa Prefecture itself is surrounded by beautiful seas, so even seeing the tropical fish on display was not that impressive. The sea in Okinawa is very beautiful, and if you go to the coast and look into the sea, you can see blue and yellow damselfish swimming. Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, which came in second place, is attached to an amusement park, so be careful when purchasing your admission ticket. There are many dolphin-related activities, such as dolphin performances and interactions. When I went, some of the tanks were under maintenance and there were not many creatures. It seems that there are quite a lot of fish now. I was a little surprised that Enoshima Aquarium was ranked 13th. I did not go to Enoshima Aquarium as a customer, but as a helper. We boarded a beach seine fishing boat operating in Toda, Izu Peninsula, and collected inedible seafood and took it to the Enoshima Aquarium. We left at 2am and returned at around 10pm. At that time, the sea conditions were getting worse, so we returned earlier. I remember that I got quite seasick because the beach seine fishing boat lowered its net and moved around the sea. The aquarium staff also looked like they were in pain, and while we were collecting fish together, they said, "It's pretty tough." The Enoshima Aquarium exhibits a wide variety of sea creatures, from fish from Sagami Bay to sea angels from the Sea of Okhotsk. It's a very enjoyable aquarium, so please go and visit. It's about a 5-minute walk from Katase Enoshima Station.
The admission fee to the aquarium is a little high, but I don't think that can be helped.
The admission fee to the aquarium is around 2,000 to 3,000 yen for adults. The admission fee to Ueno Zoo is 600 yen for adults, which seems surprisingly expensive. However, aquariums are expensive to maintain, and a lot of electricity is used to maintain the water temperature and quality. This is why the admission fee is so high. Still, aquariums are valuable places where you can encounter various sea creatures. Watching the swimming fish is sure to soothe you. With the cold days continuing, why not take your time to appreciate the fish at an indoor aquarium instead of an outdoor zoo?
